Miss Kentucky talks with the HES students about setting and achieving goals!

Miss Kentucky, Katie Bouchard, a Daviess County native spoke to our HES Bearcat students about the importance of education and their health. She talked about the importance of education, living healthy, and being happy. “I remember being in school, being influenced by others, and it’s so important to listen to our heart and do what is best for ourselves and our community,” said Bouchard. She spoke to the students about making good choices, setting goals and working to reach those goals. As part of her speech, she talked about her own struggles in school and overcoming them. "Reaching your goals and achieving your goals. And, we all go through difficulty and just showing kids that we all go through ups and downs and it's all life. And, just showing them the importance of that," says Bouchard. Her work ethic and experiences in reaching her goal to be Miss Kentucky makes her a role model for our students. Bouchard talked to the students about her platform, advocating for Kentucky's at-risk students in schools. She says she often works through her platform with the Kentucky Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) programs. The HES Family Resource Center sponsored the visit. Miss Kentucuky says she travels the state talking to students about the issue, thanks to the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Our HES Bearcats truly enjoyed her visit.
